A sneak peek into next week

posted 21 Sep 2017, 22:41 by Primary 7 Teacher   [ updated 21 Sep 2017, 22:42 ]

So this week we looked at negative numbers and long multiplication in mathematics. We are using success criteria to not only give advice for progression but learning advice to help with independent learning. We were also able to watch the mathantics videos during the lesson if we needed to go back and check the method. In literacy we moved on from balanced argument text and began using pictures to help develop our imagination. Thinking about the five senses and using alliteration, similes and personification we described the scenes that we saw. In IPC we researched the effects that drugs have on the body, which also took us on to how we use affect and effect in different ways. Here are a few pictures that sum up our week.

Next week we will continue to focus on writing adventure stories based on our class book Kensuke's Kingdom as a reading and writing focus. Next week in mathematics we will move on to shape, space and measure until Wednesday before learning about long division. In IPC we will deepen our understanding of the effects of drugs as well as hopefully meeting an expert pharmacist who can provide us with a real life experience. Exciting times in P7!

To get ahead of next week's learning here is a video for long division.

Hopefully we will not be too affected by the weather system headed our way and that learning can continue as normal. In the event of bad weather we still have mathletics and reading eggs tasks to complete as well as an IPC activity about the human body.

In Mathematics we will continue to improve on our place value skills involving seven digit numbers. Here is a video to reflect on our learning to date.
It is pretty basic stuff but we will move onto more complicated stuff soon enough.

Adding "not yet" to the end of a sentence makes a promise to the future, that you will keep going and to improve further.
