Week Beginning 6th March

Another exciting week of learning ahead. A BIG thank you to all those parents who came along to join in with our Open Learning session for Literacy last week. The children love having their parents in class!


**Home Learning**
-Please make sure your child has their home learning folder every Friday. I have started writing their spelling reflection score on the sheet so check this with your child to see how they've done.
-Please practice the times tables and related division facts for the 3, 4, 6 and 7 times tables e.g. 3 x 4 =... and 12 divided by 4 = .....


Our school show is on Friday 17th March so we are busy now with rehearsals. A BIG thank you to Arraya Price for coming up with our hip hop dance and giving up her time to come and help us practice!

Literacy learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

To know how to use speech marks accurately. 

To know at least one Greek myth.


Skill:

To be able to read a text.

To be able to find information in a text.

To be able to discuss a text.

To be able to use speech marks.

To be able to identify and use powerful verbs.

To be able to write a descriptive paragraph to retell part of a story (Theseus entering the maze and killing the Minotaur).

Understanding

        To discuss the effect of using powerful verbs.


Mathematics learning outcomes:

 Knowledge:      
        To know the place value of 3-digit numbers including money
        To know the 6 x tables and related division facts

Skills:   
        To be able to multiply and divide by 10 and 100
        To be able to multiply and divide by 10 and 100 using money
        To be able to use inverse operations


Understanding:  
        To explain what happens when you multiply or divide a number by 10 and 100



IPC - 'Shaping Up...' 

                     Knowledge:
                             To know that some materials conduct electricity.
                             To know the steps involved in carrying out an investigation. 


                    Skills:
                            To be able to plan an investigation.
                            To be able to carry out an investigation.
                            To be able to be able to use evidence to draw a conclusion. 
                            

                    Understanding:
                            To discuss why different materials would be suitable for different purposes.
