As we approach the last 2 weeks I would like to ask that you let me know if your child will be leaving early for the summer break, this will allow me to prepare all their learning to be ready to take with them. 

Sports Day - Thursday 29th (information to follow)


**Home Learning**
No new spelling patterns will be introduced and sent home from now.
Mathletics and Reading Eggs will continue to be set.

-Please practice the times tables and related division facts for the 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 times tables e.g. 3 x 4 =... and 12 divided by 4 = 



Literacy learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

To know the features of persuasive writing

Skill:

To be able to read a text.

To be able to find information in a text.

To be able to discuss a text.

To be able to write a persuasive argument.

To be able to use persuasive phrases from our phrase bank.

To be able to write a persuasive letter for or against the proposed building of a new airport close to their home.

Understanding

        To discuss how certain words and phrases are used to persuade people to agree with a point.


Mathematics learning outcomes:

          Knowledge
          To know the 8 times tables.
        

          Skills

To be able to find the perimeter of 2D shapes

 

To be able to measure, compare add and subtract unit of length, weight and capacity


Understanding
To be able to explain to a partner how to convert units of measure e.g. grams into kilograms



IPC - 'Gateways to the World' - Airports

Geography:
Knowledge:      
        To know North, South, East and West
        To know areas of interest in Sakhalin
        To know the one example of a new airport being built that had opposition from local residents. 

Skills:   
        To be able to use secondary sources to find out information about Sakhalin Island
        To be able to use a map to locate certain geographical features
        To be able to use persuasive language in letter for or against the building of a new airport
        (linked to Literacy)

Understanding:  
        To talk about the difference of the geographical features here to those in other places they have lived/visited
        To explain the pros and cons of building a new airport in a given location
