Another exciting week of learning ahead... we will be continuing with our 'Adventure Stories' unit in literacy and the children will be creating their own super heroes! In IPC we continue our look into forces by carry out investigations in Science and then using the knowledge gained to help us design games in Technology. 

Reminders:
-In preparation for International Children's Day, please send in a white t-shirt with your child's name in

**Home Learning**
-Please make sure your child brings their home learning folder to school every Friday. 
Their spelling reflection score will be written on the previous week's sheet, please check this with your child to see how they've done.
-Please practise the times tables and related division facts for the 3, 4, 6 and 7 times tables e.g. 3 x 4 =... and 12 divided by 4 = .....



Literacy learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

To know how to use inserted clauses.

To know the features of an adventure story.


Skill:

To be able to read a text.

To be able to find information in a text.

To be able to discuss a text.

To be able to use inserted clauses to add extra information. 

To be able to identify the key features of an adventure story. 

To be able to plan and write own adventure story.

Understanding

        To discuss the effect of using inserted clauses.
        To explain the difference between different types of story e.g. a myth and an adventure             story.


Mathematics learning outcomes:

 Knowledge:      
        To know the 8 times tables.
        To know what the word perimeter means. 
        To know the meaning of 'horizontal', 'vertical', 'parallel' and 'perpendicular'

Skills:   
        To be able to answer multiplication questions based on the 8 times tables.
        To be able to find the perimeter of 2D shapes. 
        To be able to identify horizontal and vertical lines and pairs of perpendicular and parallel lines. 
        

Understanding:  
        To give examples of at least 2 different ways that you can find the perimeter of a 2D shape.
        To explain or demonstrate the terms 'horizontal', 'vertical', 'parallel' and 'perpendicular'



IPC - 'Feel the Force!' 

                     Science (designing and carrying out a test/investigation to see if different surfaces                      effect the distance a marble will roll)
                     Knowledge:
                             To know how to plan a fair test/investigation (changing only 1 variable).

                    Skills:
                            To be able to design a fair test/investigation.
                            To be able to carry out a test/investigation.
                            
                    Understanding:
                            To discuss the outcomes of their test/investigation and give possible reasons for                                  this.  

                     Technology (designing and making a marble run)
                     Knowledge:
                            To know a variety of designs used for marble runs.
                            To know which features make a marble run successful. 

                     Skills:
                            To be able to design a marble run.
                            To be able to make a marble run, using materials and tools effectively.
                            To be able to reflect on their marble run and suggest improvements. 
                            To be able to to make a second marble run based on their suggested                                                   improvements.
                            
                     Understanding:
                            To discuss which forces are having an impact on their marble run.
