Term 2 - Week 1

Welcome back to another exciting, learning focused term.  We hope you all enjoyed the holidays and are well rested for the energy packed journey ahead. 

We start the term with a week long IPC unit called 'Brainwave', and you've guessed it, we'll be learning all about the brain!  We will start the week by being 'learning detectives',  making films on Tuesday, acting like neurons on Wednesday and letter writing on Friday. Your child will be making links between IPC and Literacy throughout the week.  

Literacy learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

To know the structure of a letter. 

 

Skill:

To be able to compare similarities and differences between two stories. 

To be able to write a letter for a specific purpose.

To be able to write a story from a specific view point. 

To be able to spell and use 'eigh, ey, ei' words.

Understanding

       To explain  the purpose of writing from a specific view point. 

Mathematics learning outcomes:

Knowledge:

To know the 6 and 7 times tables. 

To know  how a Carroll Diagram works. 

To know how a Pictogram works. 

Skill:

To be able to sort information into a Carroll Diagram. 

To be able to sort information into a Pictogram.

To be able to calculate the reminder in division questions. 

Understanding

      To explain the purpose of sorting information


International Primary Curriculum (IPC) learning outcomes [Brainwave]:

Knowledge:

To know the function of the neuron and synapses. 

To know how to keep our brains healthy. 

Skill:

To be able to identify learning around the school.  

Understanding

      To explain the meaning of Knowledge, Skills and Understanding.
