Big Question IPC Throughline : What makes a great person?

History guiding questions: 
How have people from the past changed the world around them? 
Does that make them accountable Global Citizens? 

We will use our inquiry and investigate the lives of people from the past. 

Know facts about people from the past from my home/host and other countries.

To be able to use key words and phrases relating to the passing of time
To be able to order events and persons into a sequence
To be able to find out about aspects of the past from a range of sources of information 

Performance of Thinking
Explain how personal qualities helped people becoming famous. 
Think and reason about how people from the past changed the world around them - does it make them accountable global citizens? 

Big Question Literacy: What messages are hidden in a story?

Narrative guiding questions:
What could the message of the author be?
What kind of things does the story tell you about the country the story is from?

Big Question Maths: What strategies can I best use to add and subtract?

  • Know my number bonds to 20
  • Know the facts counting in 3's up to 30


  • To be able to Use pairs to ten to find the complement to the next multiple of ten;

  • To be able to Use place value to add and subtract (e.g. 30 + 4, 53 – 3);

  • Add/subtract a single digit to/from a 2-digit number by bridging multiples of ten using knowledge of pairs to ten & place value;

Performances of Thinking

  • Understand that addition can be done in any order, but not subtraction;

  • Sort calculations as to whether number facts or place value can be used to help identify the useful number fact.
