A big THANK YOU to all those parents who were able to attend the open learning session, it was great
to see you engaging with the children in the IPC learning. There will be maths and literacy session to 
follow in Term 2 and Term 3.

Literacy - Fiction 
This week we will be focusing on the simple structure of a story; beginning, middle and end

-Writing sentences about our weekend news
-Writing a story from memory (assessment piece)
-Forming letters correctly, using consistent size of upper and lower case letters
-Learning to read and write the first 8 'Tricky Words' (the, I, do, to, no, go, we, me)
-Spelling pattern - adding 's' and 'es' to the end of words
            -add 's' unless the word ends in 's', 'x', 'z', 'ch' or 'sh' in which case add 'es'

Maths - Addition and Subtraction

-To be able to count reliably a set of objects using a strategy e.g. crossing off the objects you have counted 
-To know the number bonds to 10 (2 numbers that add together to make 10 e.g. 8 + 2 =10)
-To begin to know the number bonds to 20
-To be able to read and write numbers to 20 in numerals and words

IPC - People of the Past
This week we continue with History. The children will learn about famous people from 
the past who have helped change and shape the world we live in today. If you would like to find out about a 
famous person with your child then we invite children to share fact files they have made at home.

-To be able to order events into a sequence
