Learning this week in P2

In Maths:

New Learning:
  • Position and direction - 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 turns, left, right, forwards and backwards.
    • following directions
    • giving directons to others
  •  Assessment week
    • additon and subtraction to 20
    • 1 more and 1 less to 100
    • counting collections
    • reading number words
    • making collections
Mental Maths
  • counting in 2s to 50

In Literacy:

Information texts: 

Reading and creating an information texts about jobs for people in our city. (link with IPC)

Writing several sentences about the same idea. Using captial letters, full stops and finger spaces.

Phonics and Spelling
  • review of all 2/3/4 letter vowel sounds
    • ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, or, ur, ar, er, ou, ow, oi, oy, air, ear, ture
  • -ing as a suffix (Link to IPC jobs vocabulary)


How can I create a map to effectively represent my city?

I know geographical features of a city
I know keys and symbols used in maps


Be able to follow directions

Be able to map maps and plan of real and imaginary places using pictures and symbols

Be able to express views on the attractive and unattractive features of an environment

Please be aware the Library borrowing time for your children occurs once every week - eithre Thursday morning or Monday afternoon.
