An update of our learning this week beginning 17th April.

In Literacy this week:

Comic Books and Superheroes.

The children will continue the learning around comic strips, role-playing and brainstorming ideas for their comic strip. After writing descriptions of their SUPERHEROES and VILLAINS last week, this week they will create the first 3 frames of their comic book strip.

Spelling Rules:
After a short vowel (a, e, i, o, u) the 'ch' is usually written as 'tch'.

match, hutch, switch, fetch, kitchen

When the 'k' sound is heard after the 'ng' sound, the 'g' is left out.

bang - bank
ring   - rink
sang - sank
thing - think
wing - wink

In Maths this week:

Addition and Subtraction: 10 and 11

The Big Idea is:

If I know that 10 more than 23 is 33, then 11 more is 10 more and 1 extra.

Previous learning they children are linking this new learning to:

10 more and 10 less than any given number.
1 more and 1 less than any given number.
Using a hundred chart and number lines.
Addition is adding more.
Subtraction is taking away.

In IPC this week:


This week we are focusing our learning on "What is a Fair Test?"

With guidance and help, the children will conduct several fair tests and record the results accurately.
Within PE, the children will test out their ideas, always DOING, THINKING and WONDERING as good scientists do!
