Term 3 Week 1

Welcome back!

As we head into the third and final term of P2 this week we will be organising children into new IPC teams for the Mile Post and the class.  Children will have the opportunity to learn with new children from P3 for IPC and to join new Literacy and Numeracy groups.

This week we will start team building activities to help the children to develop their communication skills, adaptability, resilience and respect ready to support their IPC learning for our new unit All Dressed Up - Clothes.

In Literacy we will be learning Traditional Poems.
If you have any traditional poems or nursery rhymes form your home country please share them with us.

Knowledge
Children will know by heart some traditional finger rhymes

Skills
To be able to identify rhyming words and near rhyming words
To explore rhyming patterns
To be able to add the suffix -ing to to verbs

Understanding
To understand the use of traditinal poems and rhymes



Maths: Number and Fractions

This week we have been practising counting in 2's, 5's and 10's.
Children have been set home learning tasks to help support their learning on Mathletics.

Knowledge 
To know 10 more or 10 less than a given number
To know which number is more or less 


Skills
To be able to count in 2's, 5's and 10's
To be able to count in 10's from a single digit number
To be able to find a half and quarter of shapes and amounts

Understanding
To understand the language of fractions E.g. Whole, half, quarter
