Co-operative Learners
This week we learned co-operatively in own IPC groups to create maps of our own team city. We needed to make group decisions regarding where the buildings would be suitated and each had a task to ensure that we were learning co-operativley. We discovered that when we all co-operate in our learning we can achieve more!

Reflective Thinkers
We presented our maps to the class. We gave explanations as to why the buildings were located in certain places. For example - the airport is at the edge of the city so the planes are not flying over our houses. The park is located next to the school so the children can play there after school. The food market is near the houses so that people can easily get food for dinner!

We then learned how instead of using pictures or drawing the buildings we can use symbols to show what the building is. We used the symbols to represent the buildings and the natural geographical features on our maps and then created a key to explain those features.
Perhaps you can create a map together over the weekend with your child!

Please note that due to assessment week there was no library. Library will occur next week on Monday for Group 1 and Group 2 on Thursday.
