Week beginning May 11th

Last week and this week are shorter weeks so the children will be learning about Uniforms over 2 weeks and the learning strands and Personal Quality will be the same. In P1 International Mindedness is; talking about your friends and family members, talking about your home country, host country and countries you know about, comparing similarities and differences between yourself and your friends and your home countries. 

These are four main learning strands that we are focusing on this week;

Independence and Interdependence

1.4 their own gender and opposite gender


2.1 using gesture and expressive body movement for communication


3.9 using a variety of strategies for exploring and making sense of the world

Healthy Living

4.5  concentrating

The children will be learning about;

* Police, Nurse and Teacher uniforms worn by males and females around the world from the past and to present day

* Fireman, Chef, Dentist, Doctor and Life Guard uniforms

* Compare and contrast similarities and differences between uniforms 

* Processes of art and craft to represent uniforms

* Subtraction and Addition within 5, 8 and 10

* Writing short sentences with and without a writing frame

* Spelling, writing and reading CVC words, CCVC words, CVCC words and High Frequency words

* Measuring with non-standard units 

Home learning links;

* Review the green phonic sound books each night

Continue to explore uniforms you see each day / week and try to keep a photo or picture record to show in class

Important Dates;

* No school on Monday 9th May *  

* All white t-shirts for ICD should be sent in by Tuesday 10th May *  

* P1 swimming Gala June 21st in the afternoon *
