This coming week our learning will focus on the Big Question

What winter celebration is special to you?

We will begin to explore the winter season this week by looking at weather as well as celebrations that happen at this time. We will use a clip from the movie Frozen to get the children excited about ice and snow. The learning will link to this as we explore and enquire about real ice, snow and winter.

We will be linking our winter theme in numeracy and literacy.

In numeracy we shall be ordering and sequencing using winter patterns, snowflakes, snowmen and winter pictures.

2.53b Ordering and classifying size and shape in practical contexts

In literacy we will be using our phonics to label winter pictures and make up our own winter sentences.

2.19b Exploring different forms of print and following the conventions of text.

2.31b Copying and experimenting with letter formation.

This Wednesday we will be having our Frozen themed Party. Please sign up to bring some food to share. The room is being decorated from 10.00am onwards and then the children will be eating after play at 11.00am. Please do not bring snack that day. The children are welcome to come dressed up that day in either a Frozen themed costume or any other winter/Christmas costume they like.

Last week we had an excellent trip to the TV studio. It was an amazing experience for the children to see a real life broadcast and meet a real TV presenter, camera man and sound team. Here are some pictures from the great trip
