Week beginning April 18th

This week the children will start a new IPC unit called Clothes. The children will help to create a Fabric shop in the role-play area to help them develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of clothes. This week the children will share some understanding they have of Clothes in the Knowledge Harvest. Throughout the unit the Knowledge Harvest is added to to represent the children's growing understanding of Clothes. 
On Monday April 25th the children will take part in a whole school Entry Point as part of our Book Day linked to Clothes and more information will be sent out at the end of the week. 

The Personal Quality focus this week will be Enquiry

The four learning strands this week are;
Independence and Interdependence
1.19 expressing disagreement and difference of opinion in appropriate ways, respecting rules about their relationship with others and their environment

2.6 the value of their first language 

3.18 a range of materials in daily use

Healthy living
4.2 self help and self care

The children will be learning about;
 - seasonal clothes; summer , winter, autumn and spring
 - waterproof clothes
 - fabrics that are good to wear in different seasons
 - fabrics that are waterproof 

The books that will help the children's learning this week are;
 - Protective Clothing by Helen Whitty
 - Our Clothes by Monica Hughes

Home learning links;
Dress up in your favourtie clothes and get someone to take a picture of you. We can use these pictures for a display in the classroom. 
Try to categorize your clothes; smart, sporty, summer, winter, playing etc. Again take photos and bring them in or email them and we can use these as a display.
