This coming week we begin Learning Block 3; Minibeasts on the move. The children will make a life size spider web in the classroom using string. We will make paper spiders to live on the web. We will explore some spider stories called The Very Busy Spider – by Eric Carle and Aaaargghh! Spider – by Lydia Monks. We will practice describing our big classroom web and record all the words describing we think of. We will then take part in an Enquiry using multimedia to research Garden Orb spiders and the process of spinning a web. While we are outside this week we will go on a web hunt to try and find some real webs!

The BIG question is Where can minibeasts be found? We will research this by going outside to our playground and recording what kinds of places we find the most mini beasts. We will also use our Minibeast Non-fiction books to find out new facts about habitats of various Minibeasts.

This week we will practice using the Personal Quality Cooperation. We will practice working together as a team in our web building and research tasks. Our big goal is to try not to push to the front and be first during our activities and lining up times this week. We will practice showing cooperation and allow other children to go first, ahead of us.
