Week Beginning 18th Jan: Changes IPC Unit

We continue our IPC Unit Changes with a special two week focus on Seasons. Next week we will focus on the seasons Spring and Autumn.

The children will be developing their skills in Communication, one of our IPC Personal Qualities. They will do this by practicing listening and responding appropriately to instructions, questions and stories. 

The children will have the opportunity to explore what seasons are and what the key changes are that occur in each season. We will engage in a variety of art, investigations and role-play centred around Spring and Autumn. To support our learning we will learn a seasons song as well as a dance about the months of the year.

This week we will have a special focus on the story The Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. This is a story with many changes of characters and rhyming words. The children will practice recalling each changing character in the story and sequencing the events in order.

 

These are four main learning strands that we are focusing on this week;

Independence and Interdependence


.        1.9  their ability to acquire new interests and skills 


Communication

.        2.1  using gesture and expressive body movement for communication 


Exploring

.        3.14  identifying and using information from a range of sources 


Healthy Living

.        3.19  spatial representations such as maps, diagrams, photographs and drawings 


 

Special Notices:

* If you have any gloves or hats (child or adult) at home that you no longer use and are happy to donate please bring them in next week. They will be used in a variety of matching, changing and dressing activities linked to our Changes unit.

* If any parents would like to volunteer to help take a small group of children for ICT (computer/IPAD) support in class on Wednesday mornings at 11am please sign up on our Nursery Noticeboard in the corridor. Thank you!
