We have now come to the end of our Clothes Unit. This coming week we have our Reflection Week. The children will have the opportunity to reflect on all their new skills and knowledge that they have learned across their Clothes Unit. We have selected a different theme of Clothes focused learning for each day. The children will have opportunities to choose their favourite learning activities from the unit and show and discuss their new learning with the other children and teachers.

We will have a whole school Exit Point on Wednesday. The children are invited to come to school dressed up in special clothes. They can choose any clothes that you like as long as they are special to them. For example, they may be clothes from their home country, a favourite fancy dress outfit or a character they like etc.

The children will have a big focus on the personal quality Communication. They will practice talking about, sharing and reflecting on their learning in the Clothes Unit.

These are four main learning strands that we are focusing on this week;

Independence and Interdependence

1.6 their family background

2.24 enjoying and using music, art, drama and dance

3.12 thinking logically, making comparisons and asking questions

Healthy Living

4.3 making choices

Thank you to all the parents and nannies for coming to our open literacy morning. It was great having you there to share in our literacy learning. The children loved showing you all the different ways that they learn letters, phonics, pencil control, fine-motor skills as well as speaking and listening skills.

Last week we said good bye to Ms Tanya. I know that the children and I will miss her very much. She has been a wonderful support for us all this year, her endless patience and calm nature has been a real asset in our nursery. We wish her the best of luck with her new baby to come.

Phonics Learning (Afternoon Nursery Kids):

This week’s Jolly Phonic letters are Dd and Gg.

At home this week you could practice thinking of objects that begin with those sounds. You could also practice drawing these letters (small case only at this stage: d and g). Rather than only using a pencil, you could paint them, make their shape using buttons/paper clips, trace them with your finger in a rice or bean tray.
