Week Begining 18th April

posted 18 Apr 2016, 20:21 by Nursery Teacher 2   [ updated 19 Apr 2016, 13:38 ]

This week we begin to prepare for our new Clothes Unit. We will set up two new role-play centres together. The Laundrette and the fabric shop/tailors. The children will help take responsibility in setting parts of it up and learning how to use each area of it.

We will also use this preparation week to find out what the children’s previous knowledge about clothes are by taking part in some knowledge harvests.

We are going to spend a week exploring the Personal Quality Enquiry. We will need to use our enquiry skills alot this week when exploring the new centres and unfamiliar objects and words.

These are four main learning strands that we are focusing on this week;

Independence and Interdependence

1.19 expressing disagreement and difference of opinion in appropriate ways

Communication

2.6 the value of their first language

Exploring

3.18 materials and technology used in expressive arts

Healthy Living

4.2  self-help and self-care

If you have a photo you would like to send you can email it to me at patriciahagan.sis@gmail.com

Afternoon Nursery Session: Phonics

Bellow is a link to this weeks letter songs Ss & Aa. The children are learning these letter sounds this week in class. Encourage your child to make the action as they sing.

I have sent home a booklet in your child’s tray which explains the action for each letter.

Each week as an extra support you can play eye spy at home finding objects that begin with the sss or aaa sound.
