We have come to the end of our Food Unit and next we will take part in a week of reflection. During reflection week the children will have an opportunity to look back at all their exciting learning from their Food Unit. They will also have their Exit point on Wednesday morning  in City Mall, where the children will have the opportunity to be a customer in a real life setting and buy food in the food hall. In class during this unit the children have been taking on different roles in their role-play food hall so this will be a great opportunity to practice the new skills they have learned in ordering, choosing and buying food items. In addition to this the Nursery children will join primary 1 in setting up a real cafe where they will sell food items that they have learned to make during the Food Unit.

We will also send home a summary reflection report of your child's learning over the course of their food unit. The report will be sent out at the end of our reflection week.

In addition, the children will reflect on all the Personal Qualities we have investigated so far and read the Personal Quality books we have been exploring during each weeks focus.

These are four main learning strands that we are focusing on this week;

Independence and Interdependence

1.25 taking on different roles

Communication

2.13 exploring and observing the use of numbers

Exploring

3.15 Choosing and experimenting with materials

Healthy Living

4.9 Keeping themselves safe from harm

Home Links/Parents Open Morning:

This week parents are invited to join in with their child’s learning experiences on Wednesday morning at 8.15am before we leave for city mall. There will be special learning stations set up within the classroom centres for you and your child to navigate through together.

* The children will leave for their city mall trip on Wednesday morning. Please don’t dress your child in a full snow suit that day so that they can be comfortable in the mall. The children will not need a snack on Wednesday as we will be purchasing food from the real food hall. The school will be paying for the snack that the children purchase so you do not need to give your child money to bring.
