Learning in Nursery: Week 8

This week we have a special focus on healthy food. We will learn to identify foods that help make our body healthy and strong and what foods are unhealthy and don’t provide good energy.

We will also explore the personal quality Cooperation by practicing our skills in teamwork, sharing and taking turns.

We will learn to follow some healthy recipes by making fruit smoothies which provide us with healthy vitamins and we will make porridge which provides us with good energy.  

* We have a visiting Mummy this week who will teach us how to make a Venezuelan dish. If any other parents would like to volunteer to run a cooking activity with small groups of children then please sign up to our list on the nursery notice board. We had to create a new list due to the closure of the nursery, so there are many free dates to fill.


These are four main learning strands that we are focusing on this week;

Independence and Interdependence

4.1 Keeping themselves healthy

* We have added your lovely photographs of the children’s dinner plates to our class book. We are using these photos to learn more about the differences and similarities between us as well as learning about different cuisines/cultures within our class.

There are a few children who don’t have a photo of their dinner, please send them in this week so that all of the children can be involved. Thank you! :-)  

* This week at home you can have a discussion with your child at dinner time about healthy and unhealthy and what this means. What foods can hurt our teeth? What foods give us vitamins? What foods give us good energy?
