Changes Week 2

posted 28 Nov 2015, 01:30 by Nursery Teacher 2   [ updated 28 Nov 2015, 01:30 ]

This week we continue our learning about Changes with a special focus on babies and growing up.

We will have real baby visitors to our class and have the opportunity to ask their Mummy questions and observe their changes and differences to us. We will set up a baby role-play area where the children can take responsibility for the feeding, bathing, napping and changing of their baby doll. We will make real baby food and compare the changes/differences to the food that we eat now that we are a grown child.

Thank you parents for sending a baby photo of your child, next week we will use these in a “guess the baby” and “match the child to baby” game. The photos will support the children in practicing skills in observing and comparing changes they see.

The children will have a big focus on Thoughtfulness, one of our IPC Personal Qualities. The children will practice displaying thoughtfulness by thinking about their learning and expressing their ideas and insights.

These are four main learning strands that we are focusing on this week;

Independence and Interdependence

1.16 taking part in group activities

2. 5 the practical use of at least one language

3.9 using a variety of strategies for exploring and making sense of the world

Healthy Living

4.7 their own personal worth

This week you could take time to look through some baby photos with your child and discuss all the changes and growing up they have gone through since they were a baby. You can also watch and episode of Baby Jake and use it to open up a discussion with your child about the changes/differences in the way babies talk and move compared to nursery children.
