Structure of the Orchestra

Students are beginning to consider the complex structure of the symphonic orchestra, how the various components of the music are structured together to create a whole piece which can be very emotive. We have been discussing how music can make us feel. This is quite a challenging piece of learning for the students. I have asked staff at school to share their favourite pieces of classical music and next week we will try to see if we can guess who suggested which piece.

Perhaps you might like to discuss with your child a piece of classical music that is important to you or your family and talk about what it is about that music that makes it so memorable. 

Below are some examples of pieces I shared with the students:
