In term 3 the board of the Dutch school has organised an exciting event for the whole school. Chris White, English author and illustrator, will visit our school on the 2nd and 3rd of May. Chris writes and illustrates funny poetry for 6 to 11 year-olds. He's an energetic person that will surely stimulate our students to write their own stories and poems. He has visited many schools in the UK and International school in countries around the world.

Chris' visit will kick off our bookweek this year, with a performance for our students. He will then lead writing workshops on both Tuesday and Wednesday for MP1, 2 and 3 and MY students. There will also be the chance for the children to have him sign their Chris White books. If you want more of his books you can find them on Amazon. Attached you'll find a document with a link for each book, for Dutch parents there are links to available on the NTC-page.

Chris White has always written poems and scribbled drawings since he was an ickle boy. He did this just for fun and because he enjoyed it. Little did he know that many years later he would become a globe-trotting published poet!
It was in the year 2000 that Chris was lucky enough to have his first collection of poetry published, Bitey the Veggie Vampire, and since then he hasn't looked back. Many other books of poetry, doodles and stories have been published since that day.
But that is only one part of the story, as Chris was asked to perform at a few book festivals to promote his debut book. Never having read his poems to an audience before, Chris was very nervous but did his best...and it turned out ok!
So off he went onto the long winding road of his performance poetry travels. Travels that have taken Chris all around the U.K. visiting theatres, schools, festivals...and even a prison or two! Don't worry, they let him out!
After having been up and down England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland performing and drawing for anybody that would listen and look, Chris turned his attention to other places...
Would the rest of the world enjoy listening to rhymes about Kung Fu Shrews and hamsters in microwaves? Turns out...YES!!
Chris has now visited lots and lots of different countries including...Kuwait, China, The UAE, Malaysia, Jordan and The Democratic Republic of Congo! All to spread the love of the written rhythmic word and the joy of scribbling funny drawings!
Along the way Chris has been on radio and television shows, written for the BBC, done workshops for the UK Government, had a book published in South Korea and has illustrated and narrated Story Mouse apps available for your ipads and iphones.
